Job Title: Foreman FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt  Reports To: Paint Boss

 

Effective Date: 3/1/23

Job Summary: The Foreman will work with and coordinate a team to complete scheduled painting jobs timely and professionally at either residential or commercial spaces, both interior and exterior.

Pay:  Determined by Experience.  $25 to $35

Supervisory Responsibilities: *Guides, assigns, schedules, and supervises the work of Painters and ensures work is completed on schedule. *Provides job evaluations and feedback based on performance and goals in a timely and constructive manner. *Implements disciplinary and termination steps as necessary and according to company policy. *Recommends promotions and salary increases based on observed job performance. *Ensures each assigned Painter follows all safety standards.

Essential Functions:

*Oversees assigned project/work site, ensuring safety standards are followed, quality work is being performed in a timely manner, and provides project status updates both verbally and electronically.

*Oversees and communicates availability and use of proper materials and tools; recognizes and promptly addresses issues so that work can continue on schedule. *Resolves problems and coordinates activities for the job through collaboration and communication.  

*Identifies and recommends solutions for production problems, as required.   *Identifies and orders appropriate paint colors and finishes, mixing if needed. *Using employee owned hand tools; prep, protect, and apply primers and paints to various surfaces. 

*Prepares surfaces to be painted, which may include removing prior finishes through chemicals, grit blast, or other methods.

*Masks, removes, covers, or otherwise protects furniture, hardware, trim, and other nonpainted surfaces.

*Applies paint to interior and exterior surfaces using brushes, rollers, sprayers, airbrushes, stencils, and other tools. *Complies with chemical and waste storage and disposal regulations and best practices.

*Builds scaffolding according to safety regulations.

*Delivers friendly service to customers as a representative of the Bracken’s Painting team. 

*Maintains a clean work area. *Performs other duties as assigned. 

Required Skills/Abilities: 

*Ability to analyze situations and identify ways to improve efficiency. *Excellent interpersonal and management skills.

*Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

*Thorough understanding of materials, methods, and tools used in projects. *Ability to create and lead in a team setting.

*Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

*Using a driver’s license, Foreman may be required to drive company vehicles. In compliance with Driving Records Check policy.

 

Work Environment Bracken’s Painting operates year-round. The work environment will change with each job and can take place at either residential or commercial spaces, both interior and exterior.

 

Education and Experience: 2 - 3 years of management experience required.

Physical Requirements:  *Prolonged periods of standing and painting.   *Must have adequate balance and ability to work with, move, & climb ladders and scaffolding.   *Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds at times.  *Must be able to distinguish among colors.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Pay: Determined by experience.  $20 to $30 per hour.

*Ability to work and move ladders in interior and exterior settings.

*Using a driver’s license, Painter may be required to drive company vehicles. In compliance with Driving Records Check policy.
